A lot of lies and rumours are portrayed about the concept of Jihad in Islam. It is used by governments around the world, as a word that allows them to justify their political policies against Islam. It is also used as a word to instil fear and confusion in the masses of the Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
The fact is that Jihad is the method of Dawah and the foreign policy of an Islamic state. It is there to be used to convey Islam to the world and bring justice to people who have been oppressed by the man made systems.
However if we look the concept of colonialism, we find it is also the foreign policy of the western Governments of today. However the objective of colonialism is not to look after the affairs of the people per se, but to exploit the people and their resources. Many incidences in the past couple of centuries, as in Sudan and the Indian subcontinent, highlight this fact and even more so today in the Muslim lands.
This week’s talk discusses the issue of Jihad and compares it with Colonialism, highlighting the very clear differences and how this subject should be discussed.
