Allah(swt) tell us in the Quran that the Muslims are the best nation raised from mankind. When many people look at the reality of the Muslims today and particularly Muslim Youth in the West, they think to themselves, ‘how can these people be the best people raised from mankind?’ When they see the Muslim youth involved in gang culture and drug culture, they cant see the difference between them and the non-Mulim youth in society.

This talk will discuss how to preserve the Islamic identity in the West.

Natural disasters and Western aid

The death toll of the Burmese cyclone, called Nargis, to date has been estimated by the Burmese authorities to be about 22,000 people with other sources estimating it to be as high as 100,000. There is also a real risk of further fatalities with disease, lack of health care and lack of food and water expected to take further lives. In terms of the scale of the disaster this is certainly on a par with recent incidents such as the Tsunami in 2004, the Pakistan earthquake in 2005, the floods in Bangladesh in 2007, and now the earthquake in Southern China last week.

Western countries are very eager to offer aid to countries facing natural disasters, is this aid purely a human gesture or are conditions tide to further the interests of those offering the aid.  This weeks circle will be discussing this topic.

From world food shortages to 10p tax cuts and crisis mangement as in the case of Burma and China the focus today is on the responsibility of governments. So how in the coming Khilafah will we be able to execute the responsibilty of leadership such that the rights, properties and welfare of humanity are secured.

How will we secure the rights of the people. How in times of crisis will the Khalifah respond to the needs of his people. What recourse do the people have to account the Khalif when problems arise. This talk aims to address such contemporary issues within the context of Islamic governance i.e. the Khilafah.

Food prices are soaring. Increased demand from developing economies, rising fuel prices, poor weather ruining harvests, and a shift to biofuel production leave the consumer paying more for basic staples and is having its hardest impact on poorer nations.

How would the coming khilafah deal with these issues from the Islamic perspective.

Abid Razaq will be discussing this further and demonstrate how the Islamic economic system deals with the distribution of wealth.

Speaker: Abid Razaq
